Hello,
a bit about me:
Madison is a costume designer and technician with a BFA in Performance Production with an emphasis in costume design from Cornish College of the Arts.
They currently work at Oregon Shakespeare Festival as a Wardrobe Lead. In their time at OSF, they have also been a Costume Project Manager and Wardrobe Technician.
Madison has spent hundred of hours on both domestic and industrial sewing machines. Their favorite type of machine is a Juki industrial serger, but they love a good sprint with a blind hemmer. With a keen eye for detail, their projects make many trips to the gravity-fed iron and see a combination of machine and hand-sewing for high-end construction and tailoring.
On top of their interest in costume construction, they have extensive knowledge of fashion history and take pride in their analytical approach to design. Their process lends itself to thorough, clean paperwork in production processes and effective budget tracking. Madison's greatest strength is their versatility across many disciplines and subjects.
Their approach pulls from many interconnected knowledge bases to inform their decisions every step of the way. Understanding how to execute the details and construct garments effectively and efficiently is serving them well in their current position. Those skills transfer into the drafting and draping processes, when they factor that knowledge into each decision. As a designer, all knowledge of the construction is referenced in the process of choosing silhouettes and fabrics, backed up with plenty of historical sources, to ensure every actor can both embody their character fully and move without restriction.
Always looking to learn new skills, Madison has recently taken on projects in the world of puppetry. They also have interest in drawing and painting in multiple mediums. In their free time, they are usually keeping their hands busy with a knitting project or baking a new muffin recipe.
